John Duder Obituary

John Francis Duder of Minneapolis passed away on February 9, 2025. He was born in Tecumseh, NE, on December 22, 1939, and grew up on the family farm near Table Rock, NE. After graduating from high school, he took a job on the railroad for a brief time. He left the railroad and enrolled in a 2 year electronics course followed by 4 years at Peru State College in Peru, NE, graduating with a degree in Physics. During this time, he also served in the Air Force Reserves for 4 years.

John is remembered for his sense of humor and love of pranks. He was the epitome of a DIYer, and could fix anything even though the end result might not be "pretty." He had an avid interest in anything to do with WWII, and loved talking to those vets about their experiences. As a member of the WWII Historical Society, he and Anita enjoyed an amazing 2 week tour of the WWII battlefields of Normandy, France, in 2002.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Anita; brother Lawrence (Bonny Porten); and sister Ruth Ann Finck as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and longtime friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Lawrence; nephew, Mark Duder and brother-in-law, Raymond Finck. Many thanks to the compassionate care given him recently at the Minneapolis VA Hospital. Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please give to your favorite charity.
