Andover, MN - We announce the passing of our beloved father: John William ("Grandy") Anderson. Born in Wausau, WISC on 4/24/1935 to John L. & Gertrude M. (Cunningham) Anderson. John died at the age of 90-years young on 11/24/2025 in Andover, MN. Survived by children: Linda (& John) Loes of Anoka, MN; Michael J. Anderson of Mequon, WI; Karin E. Bigovich of Corcoran, MN and Scott L. Anderson of Charleston, SC. Also survived by Sister: Bonnie C. Dodge of Austin, TX and 10-beloved grandchildren, as well as 8-nieces/nephews. Predeceased by parents & cherished wife of 65-years~~ Charlotte Mae (Pagel) Anderson.

Official cause of death is dementia.

Long-time resident of San Diego, CA.

Graduate of the University of Wisconsin (Madison) with a degree in Chemical Engineering, followed by a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida (Tallahassee). He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity & an Army Veteran.

John started his career at General Mills as a Chemical Engineer, moving to IBM (product development & sales). He retired from IBM in 2000. A true salesman, he never met a person he didn't come to know as a true friend.

Grandy was always on the move~~ jogging, hiking, biking..... even tooling around his care facility (at breakneck speed and with total abandon) in his wheechair the last year of his life. And always with a hat on his head.

John's favorite number was "pi"..... which is truly awesome because "pi" isn't really a number at all~~ it's a mathematical symbol with infinite digits. True to form, his memory will live on infinitely in his family & those many people he knew as friends over the years. He was a truly extraordinarily unique individual who's footprint touched many hearts. He taught us well how to live & how to live well.

Family would like to commend the staff of Personal Care Senior Living, Andover, MN & Interim Hospice of MN for their truly exceptional care throughout the last several years.
