JoAnn Ruth Nielsen (nee Pilgrim) Obituary
Elk River - Age 87, passed away on May 26, 2026, at Elk River Senior Living in Elk River, MN. JoAnn was born July 13, 1938. She was a faithful servant of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. JoAnn was a consummate musician and made it her life's mission to teach others. She was a piano teacher, music director, and organist. JoAnn was also passionate about aiding others; she was an adoption coordinator and an office manager at Hamline University Graduate School.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her two brothers Walter and David Pilgrim.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Tom; daughter Julie (John) Brown; son Stephen (Jody) Nielsen; grandchildren Joe (Kya) Brown and Grace Brown; step-grandchildren Carlos and Alycia Monserrate; sisters Dorean Rodewald and Paula Benson; and many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.

A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom, MN on Thursday June 11, 2026 at 11AM. Visitation will be the hour prior and burial to follow the service.
