Minnetonka Beach, MN - Joann Colleen Dawson Anderson was born on June 9, 1932, and passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved Jerrys; husband Gerald R. Anderson Sr. and son Gerald R. Anderson, Jr. and dog Roxy in the last year. She is survived by her stepdaughter LaVon Kellner and granddaughter Chloe Kellner from NYC.

Joann graduated from Des Moines high school and worked for 45 years for Northwestern Bell and AT&T, rising through the ranks from switchboard phone operator to VP of Regulatory Affairs. Throughout her career she mentored women and was an active member and officer of Minneapolis Zonta club for many years. She served as a judicial advocate for children in Hennepin County and was a longtime elected official and community volunteer in Minnetonka Beach, including 7 years as mayor, 5 years on planning commission, 3 on city council and 2 on the utilities commission.

Most importantly, she was an amazing wife, mother and friend with a wicked sense of humor and sweet ability to get her way. She was always dressed in Chico's finest with freshly coiffed red hair. We will miss her sense of adventure and willingness to say yes.
