Chanhassen - Joan Mary Rudnicki Brooks, age 92, passed away on June 9, 2026.

Born August 31, 1933, in Morris, Minnesota, to Frank and Effie Rudnicki, Joan spent her life in Minnesota, living in Morris, Mound, Maple Plain, and Chanhassen. She worked at Tonka Toys and Sandoz and devoted herself to raising her six children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Brooks; her parents; and her siblings, James Rudnicki and Kay Rudnicki.

Joan is survived by her sister, Betty Ehalt; her children Sandra (Dale) Wurdeman, Jeanne (Christian) Dahl, Kenneth (Catherine Simpson), Douglas (Luann) Brooks, Roger (Karen) Brooks, and Dana (Brent) Koukol; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one more expected later this summer.

Joan was the heart of a large and growing family. Known for her resilience, wit, and unconditional love, she met life's challenges with determination, perspective, and humor. She taught those around her that difficult times are best faced with strength, optimism, and laughter.

Her example lives on through the generations of family and friends whose lives she touched. She will be remembered for her steadfast spirit, her love of family, and her ability to find joy even during life's most challenging moments.

A graveside prayer service will be held July 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church Cemetery, Minnetrista, Minnesota. A Celebration of Life with food and refreshments will follow from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Depot in Mound.

In lieu of flowers, honor Joan by spending time with family, sharing a laugh, and helping someone in need.
