Fridley/Ramsey - left us recently in 2025. She was born in 1932 in New Bedford, MA to Delano and Iva (Savery) Griffith and raised in nearby Marion, MA. Janet was a very special person. She enjoyed time reading at the beach or hanging by her knees in a tree, babysitting her cousins and the time with her family on Martha's Vineyard. Graduated from college where she met her husband of over 70 years, Norman H. Young. Together they started a family of 5 children that were raised in Fridley, MN after a momentous move in 1964. She was a teacher for more than 40 years, mostly at Adams Elementary School in Coon Rapids. She cherished time with her book clubs, the ocean, teaching, good fried clams, Christmas and her holiday villages and especially spending time with her family who loved her as much as they were loved. More than anything, she loved being a mom and a grandma – she loved every kid she met! She was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Margaret and three brothers-in-law along with many friends and relatives. She will always be missed by countless in-laws, cousins, friends, and students who were impacted by her joy of teaching. She is survived by her husband Norm, sister Alma, children Catherine, Jim (Jo), Deborah (Blair), Margaret (Lee), Thomas (Maria), 10 grandchildren and 7 (soon to be 8) great-grandchildren. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
