James C. Tuma (October 26, 1930 - January 28, 2025)
James Tuma peacefully passed away January 28th at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was originally from MN, where he raised his five children, and retired to Kings Point in Sun City Center, FL in 2004 with his wife, Anise.
He served in the Army as an educator in munitions during the Korean War. He was educated at St. Thomas University and The University of Minnesota and graduated with a bachelor's degree as an Electrical Engineer.
He began his career at Control Data. Later he founded his own company and invented the RapidRater computer, which rated auto & homeowner insurance quotes. In his later years he taught programing software languages.
He enjoyed spending time with his family engaging in activities such as trips to the Boundary waters, camping, family barbeques and picnics at the beach, traveling, sailing, downhill skiing, ballroom dancing, gardening, and chess. He was also known for his exemplary, all-inclusive dagwood sandwiches.
He is survived by his wife, Anise; children, Theresa L. Tuma, Carl M. Tuma, Lisa Schroeder (Michael), Rosanne L. Tuma, David U. Tuma, Kevin B. Wilson, Karen M. Rodriguez, Kathy D. Wilson, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents (Wenzel and Rose Tuma), his sister Lorriane T. Lonquist (Ernie), and baby daughter.
Funeral Mass will be held at Stephen's Catholic Church, 525 Jackson St., Anoka, MN 55303, on Friday, April 11th - 10am visitation, 11am mass with a luncheon to follow.
Interment ceremony on Friday, April 11th at 1:45 at Gethsemane Cemetery, 8151 N 42nd Ave, New Hope, MN 55427.
