James Scott Noreen (Jim) Obituary

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of James (Jim) Scott Noreen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on March 10, 2025, at his home in Eagan.

Born on December 9, 1944, in Minneapolis, Jim had a lifelong passion for fishing. Whether casting a line on Lake Kabetogama for opener or spending quiet moments with his family at their cherished cabin on Lake Mille Lacs, Jim instilled a love of fishing in his children and grandchildren through countless hours spent together on the water.

A proud graduate of the University of Minnesota's School of Architecture, Jim was also a dedicated Gopher sports fan. As an architect, Jim dedicated his career to designing buildings that blended form and function, leaving a lasting mark on his projects. He worked at several firms, including Wobken, Walsh, and Noreen (WWN), and RSP Architects. His interest in historical renovations, his innovative designs, and meticulous attention to detail was a true reflection of his commitment to his craft.

Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Harriet; his sons, Michael (Kerri) and Jeffrey (Katherine); and his grandchildren, Joseph, Leah, Erik, and Hannah, all of whom cherished his kindness and gentle nature. Jim's grandchildren will especially remember the joy he found in sharing chocolate shakes and ice cream with them.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Jim's church, Peace Church-Eagan, Second Harvest Heartland, or a charity of donor's choice.

Jim will be missed by all who knew him, as well as by the family he loved so deeply. May he rest in peace.
