Edina, MN - James Gerald Masica

Age 82 of Edina, passed away May 7, 2025. Preceded in death by: Father; Martin James, Mother; Norma Christine, Sisters; Mardel Chris Jackson and Delores Patty Cassidy; Niece: Pamela Cassidy, Nephew: Timothy Cassidy; and Brother-in-law; Bradley Andrews.

Survived by: Wife, Linda Andrews Masica. Son: Brett (Ann); Grandchildren; Max, Adam, Riley. Daughter: Kendal: Grandchildren; Connor, Logan. Son: Matthew (Lisa); Grandchildren; Benjamin, Lauren, Henry. Sister; Dawn Masica (Mitch). Brother, Dan Masica (Linda). Beloved Cousin, Bonnie Belair. Brother-in-law Jeffrey Andrews (Kathy). Along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

Jim led an extraordinary life. A brilliant mind, a successful career as an actuary, a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries, a Mensa member, a quirky sense of humor, and an amazingly full head of hair. Born in Minneapolis, Jim grew up in St. Cloud and St. Paul. In High School, Jim's passion for learning (particularly math) blossomed. Scholarships led him to a degree in mathematics at Hamline University, followed by the University of Minnesota.

Jim considered his biggest accomplishment in college to be meeting and marrying the love of his life, Linda. Jim and Linda had three children and eight grandchildren. Jim's passions included travel and reading, the Boundary Waters, fossils, rocks, and sharing humorous stories. However, his biggest passion and love was reserved for his wife, children, and grandchildren. If you were lucky enough to be the wife or offspring of Jim, you knew unconditional love. His was love without judgment, a generous love that asked for nothing in return. The world is better for having had Jim in it.

His Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, June 11th, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4100 Lyndale Avenue South. Minneapolis, MN 55409. Visitation begins at 10:30, service at 11:30, luncheon and fellowship at 12:30.
