Victoria - Glover, James Edward June 2, 1943 - May 15, 2025 With deep sadness, we announce the passing of James Edward Glover, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran of the United States Armed Forces, who passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on June 2, 1943, in Alabama, James was one of 13 children and lived a life rooted in service, love, and a deep respect for the world around him. He bravely served his country during the Vietnam War (1966-1968), and his time in the military remained a defining part of his character - marked by integrity, loyalty, and strength. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Ada Glover, 6 brothers and 3 sisters. James moved to Minneapolis in 1962 to attend the U of M and cheer on the MN Vikings. He retired from Qwest Communications after 30 years of employment and 12 years as a school bus driver for special needs children. Eden Prairie was the family's home for 42 years before settling in Victoria in 2019. After a valiant fight, he lost the battle against renal disease and multiple myeloma. James is survived by his loving wife, Heidi; his three children, Lisa Mendelblatt (Scott), Nik (Laura), and Paul (Dani); and his six cherished grandchildren - Maddie, Jackson, Charlie, Holland, Olivia, and Ella - each of whom brought him great pride and joy. Also, survived by his brothers, Bernard (Mary), Kenneth (Caroline), Gervais; sister, Lottye; many cousins, nephews and nieces. A true outdoorsman, James loved to fish and spend time outside, especially when he had a project to tackle or a piece of wood to shape. He enjoyed coaching his kids in their younger years and was always happiest when he was active - whether golfing, gardening, bowling, or hunting. A visitation to honor his life and memory will be held at the Cremation Society of MN in Edina on June 23rd starting at 10:30, with a service at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to a veterans' organization of your choice or to the American Kidney Fund. A private burial service for the immediate family will be held at Fort Snelling. James will be deeply missed, always loved, and forever remembered.
