James David Forystek (Jase)

James "Jase" David Forystek, age 80, passed away on February 22, 2026, in Palm Beach County, Florida, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born on April 7, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Walter and Elizabeth Forystek.

After graduating from Brooklyn Center Schools, Jase went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. His military service was an important part of his life, and he was very proud of having served his country. He will be remembered with honor and gratitude for his service and commitment to his country.

Not being a fan of Minnesota winters, Jase moved to Florida in the early 1970s and worked independently doing construction in South Florida, Key Largo, and Trinidad, West Indies before finally landing in Jensen Beach, Florida. He was a longtime resident of Jensen Beach, but his Minnesota roots remained an important part of his life.

Known for his friendly nature, Jase never met a stranger. He loved visiting with people and could make a friend wherever he went. He was always the life of the party, and his bright smile lit up every room. A master storyteller, he always made those around him laugh (and sometimes shake their heads) with his stories. His humor, his stories, and the many memories shared with family and friends will be cherished by those who knew him.

One of Jase's greatest passions was racing. He served on the Blind Faith Nitro Funny Car crew, where members of the racing team were more like family than friends to him. In more recent years, he loved taking road trips and traveling throughout the country with his good buddy and fellow Army veteran, Denny Gottman.

Above all, one of Jase's greatest joys was his family. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and loved sharing stories about them with others.

Jase is survived by his children: Thai (T-Tam Tran) Le of Tukwila, WA, Chad (Kari) Forystek of Blooming Prairie, MN, Brandon Lee of San Antonio, TX, and Nicole Forystek of Orange Park, FL; his grandchildren: Kevin and Kasey Le; Kylie, Maren and Ty Forystek; Emily and Laurel Lee; his sisters: Elaine Fleigle and Monica Sirek; his nieces and nephews; and many other family members and friends who will remember him fondly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Elizabeth Forystek, and his brother, Thomas Forystek.

A memorial service will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. His cremated remains will be laid to rest with military honors.

Jase will be remembered as a proud veteran, a hard worker, a loyal friend, and someone whose stories, laughter, and kindness will live on through those who knew and loved him.
