Kankakee, IL/Anoka - Joyce Bentz, 94, passed away on January 9, 2026. She was a dedicated nurse, homemaker, and a talented musician and artisan. Dr. Herman Bentz, 94, passed away on July 18, 2021. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a respected surgeon who served the Anoka community for many years. They were married for 68 years and are survived by their five children: Pamela (Alan) Nottke of Bourbonnais, IL; Dr. Steven (Dianne) Bentz of Coon Rapids, MN; David Bentz of Brooklyn Park, MN; Wendy Lantz of Fullerton, CA; and Janelle Southan of Elkins, AR; their daughter-in-law Renita (Don) Bentz-Miller of Fallbrook, CA; as well as an extensive family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Herman and Joyce were preceded in death by their son, Matthew Bentz, and sons-in-law, Chip Lantz and Phill Southan.

A joint memorial service will be held on Friday, June 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Anoka, MN. The family will receive guests at the church one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place at Itasca Cemetery in Grand Rapids, MN, on Monday, June 8, at 10:00 a.m.
