Scottsdale, AZ - Gregg Clifford Lien, 77, passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2026. Born on June 4, 1949, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Gregg grew up on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Gregg met the love of his life, Laurie, through friends in Minneapolis, and they married in August 1981.

Gregg devoted more than 50 years of his career to Midway Industrial Supply, serving as its owner for over 40 years. He led with integrity, worked tirelessly, and took great pride in the business he built. After retiring in 2015, Gregg and Laurie made Arizona their full time home, where they embraced the sunshine and enjoyed retirement together.

Gregg had a passion for adventure and loved traveling with his family. Maui held a special place in his heart, and he looked forward to returning each year to spend time on the beach with those he loved. He also cherished returning to Minnesota, where he enjoyed spending time in Gooseberry Falls State Park and hunting with his cousins. His travels took him around the world in search of fine wines, another passion he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. An avid collector of classic automobiles and a builder at heart, Gregg was rarely without a woodworking or home project. He found great satisfaction in creating with his hands and passed that love of craftsmanship on to his daughters and grandsons. Whether discussing classic cars, reminiscing about family adventures, or sharing a favorite bottle of wine, Gregg found joy in spending time with those he loved. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Gregg is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Laurie Lien; his daughters, Kristin Lien and her husband, Alex, and Melissa Pace and her husband, Joe; and his cherished grandchildren, Elijah Pace, Lucas Pace, and Thomas Lien. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Phyllis Lien, and his brother, Alan Lien.

A Celebration of Life honoring Gregg will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Berglund Wright Room at Como Park Zoo & Conservatory, 1225 Estabrook Drive, St. Paul, MN 55103. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Como Park Zoo & Conservatory, which relies on voluntary donations for support. Friends and family are also invited to visit the memorial bench donated by Gregg and Laurie, located in the primate building near the lemur exhibit.
