Gordon McCrea Fisher Obituary

Fisher, Gordon McCrea 90, passed peacefully on Saturday, February 27th after a battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born October 5th, 1925 in Little Falls, MN son of Tully & Ione Brown Fisher, grandson of Charles Wiley Fisher. When his mother passed, he went to live with his Aunt Thelma Brown Rebozo and husband, Ed, in Miami. He enlisted in the Navy after high school and served as a Corpsman (medic) on Guam during World War II. After the war, he served with the Army in Alaska as a Radio Operator. He earned a PhD in 1959 in Mathematics and started his teaching career at Princeton University. He also taught in New Zealand and was a Professor at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA when he retired. He was a much-published scholar and poet. He is survived by his wife, Dawn S. Fisher. He is also survived by his daughter and grandson, Andrea and Liam Rowland of Virginia and by his daughter, Jennifer Fisher, his son-in-law, David Berger, and grandson, Daniel Berger of New York. A much loved father and husband, he will be very much missed, but lives on in our hearts and our minds.
