Geraldine Martha Bowman (Gerri)

Gerri Bowman, beloved wife, mother and Nana, passed away September 11, 2025, following a decade in memory care with Alzheimer's.
Gerri was the youngest of four daughters, born June 5, 1937, to John and Hilma Larson of LaBolt, South Dakota. As she reached school age, the family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Gerri first met her husband-to-be Dale as a child in Sunday School at Bethlehem Covenant Church. After graduating from Minnehaha Academy and earning a medical laboratory and x-ray technician certification, she and Dale married in 1958. September 13, 2025, would have been their 67th wedding anniversary.
Gerri and Dale spent their early married life in the Southwest, where Dale was stationed with the Army, then back to Minneapolis to finish school and on to St. Louis, Missouri for Dale's position at Honeywell. While in St. Louis, they welcomed daughters Marta and Britta to their family.
In 1969, the family moved back to Minneapolis and made a home for themselves among a wonderful group of neighbors in Tangletown. Gerri and Dale created a beautiful life there for their family, a source of so many cherished memories.
More memories were made at Burntside Lake, where Dale built their cabin over a period of years and Gerri adapted to the ongoing construction, from preparing a Thanksgiving feast with a Weber grill and a two-burner Coleman stove, to many years of enjoying the finished cabin, especially on the front deck, savoring the lake view.
Upon Dale's retirement, they embarked on numerous driving trips around the country, including many to Seattle to visit their adored granddaughter Annabelle. Their "golden years" together ended too soon with the onset of Alzheimer's, but they made the most of the time they had.
Gerri truly elevated the role of homemaker to an art. She was a terrific cook and an even better baker. She had excellent taste, which was reflected in her home and cabin decor, as well as in the beautiful clothing she made for herself. She also sewed most of her girls' clothes when they were young, hand-hooked gorgeous wool rugs, and became an expert quilter, leaving many lovely pieces to remember her by.
Gerri was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Elaine, Eleanor and Louise, and her son-in-law David. She is survived by her devoted husband Dale, daughters Marta (Tony Rimarcik) and Britta, and granddaughter Annabelle.
It has been hard to slowly lose our vibrant, loving Gerri over the last fifteen years, but the ways in which she touched and bettered our lives have stayed and will remain with us, and we are comforted that she is now at peace with her Lord. A gathering for family and friends to remember and celebrate Gerri will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, Meetinghouse Church or Minnehaha Academy.
