Bloomington, MN - Gerald (Jerry) Maynard Olsen (91), of Richfield, Minnesota, entered into eternal rest on July 4, 2026 after a long and wonderful life.

Jerry was born to Maynard and Alice Olsen on April 7, 1935 and was baptized two months later on June 2, 1935.

In Jerry's younger years he was an Eagle Scout, succeeded in riding all 43 streetcar lines in the Twin Cities, adventured in the woods and on the Mississippi river banks, and enjoyed spending time lakeside on his 14' runabout boat.

In 1958, Jerry was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he proudly served two years active duty in Germany and four years at Fort Snelling in the reserves. Upon discharge, Jerry tuned and maintained organs at ten churches in the Twin Cities metro area for 25 years. In addition, he graduated from Northwestern Electronics School and had a successful 30-year career with General Electric. All the while, Jerry continued to tend his other interests, including his beautiful garden, his faith and 66-year membership at Central Lutheran Church, and his 27-year volunteer service at the Minnesota Streetcar Museum.

His truest devotion was to his wife of nearly 61 years, Muriel. The two were married on November 20, 1965, and together they had two daughters, Kirsten and Karin.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Marilyn (David) Samuelson and Thomas Olsen, and sister-in-law Patricia Olsen. He is survived by his wife Muriel, brother Paul Olsen, daughters Kirsten (Bob) Jacob and Karin (Darren) Dykstra, and grandchildren Andy (Alexandra) Jacob, Sonja (Brady) Risendal, Erik (Sally) Jacob, Marta (Brandt) Brown, Nikolas (Savannah) Dykstra, and Sophia Dykstra.

The funeral is 11 a.m., Thursday, July 9, at Central Lutheran Church (333 S 12th St, Mpls). Visitation one hour prior.

In honor of Jerry and his legacy, memorials may be made to the Central Lutheran Church Organ Restoration Fund or the Minnesota Streetcar Museum.
