Brooklyn Park, MN - Known to many as Bert, age 79, of Brooklyn Park, Passed away at home March 19th, 2026 to cancer. Born in Bertha, MN to Marvin and Helen Bertelsen. He served 2 yrs in the Navy, went to work for MN/DOT, retired after 37 years. Preceded in death by parents, son John Bertelsen, niece Denise Cortez and his dog Jake, survived by his soul mate Lisa Weidema, her mother Ora Mae. Sister Barbara Cortez, many nieces, nephews, great/great great nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services held at Family of God Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Park, MN, Thursday April 30th, 2026 11 am with visitation 1 hour prior to service. Luncheon to follow the service at Osseo/Maple Grove American legion, Burial will be held at Fort Snelling National cemetery, Friday May 1st, 2026 9 am.
