George Wold Obituary
Wold, George E. Age 97, of Stillwater, formerly of South Minneapolis died peacefully on 3/16/23. Preceded in death by loving wife of 56 years, Mabel. Survived by children, Jodie (Tom) and Jim (Jeannie), and grandchildren Meghan, T.J. and Anne. He was adopted as an infant. His father traveled and George had the opportunity as a young child to meet President Calvin Coolidge. He graduated from Southwest High School. George was one of last of the world's greatest generation. He was WWII veteran and POW in Stalag Luft 1 in Barth, Germany and liberated by the Russians at the end of the war. He returned to civilian life, graduated from Dunwoody Institute, and pursued a career as a commercial truck driver. He enjoyed spending summers at the family cabin with many, many friends. He was a diehard fan of both Pepsi Cola and Chevrolet. He was a volunteer for Toys for Tots, Heritage of Edina Nursing Home, and the Como-Harriet Streetcar Line and was a member of Woodbury Lutheran Church. George was uniquely comical, occasionally quirky, and sometimes a bit of a curmudgeon. A special thank you to the caring staff at Boutwells Landing where George resided. Private service was held at his request. Bradshaw - 651-439-5511 www.bradshawfuneral.com
