St. Paul, Minnesota - Gaye Ellen McDonough Larson, 83, of St. Paul, passed away March 30, 2026. She was born Nov. 2, 1942, in Wabasha, MN, and raised in Nelson, WI. She graduated from Durand High School, where she was senior class president and a member of the cheerleading squad. While in high school, she met her future husband, Daniel, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage. They made their lifelong home in St. Anthony Park. She was an active member of St. Anthony Park United Church of Christ for 60 years and a member of PEO. She volunteered with Children's Home Society, caring for many foster babies, and later worked with an attorney mentoring older adults who needed help managing their lives. Gaye loved traveling with her family, especially throughout the United States, and took great interest in its history and places. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends and family at her home on Bourne Avenue, where she lived until her passing. Her house and yard were a place of comfort and calm for her. Ten years ago, Gaye was diagnosed with Posterior Cortical Atrophy. She lived with this disease with the same grace and quiet strength that defined her life, supported by the love of her family, friends, and her Beyond Hospice team. Gaye was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Dorothy McDonough, and her brother, Terry McDonough. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Larson; her brother, Michael McDonough; five children, Kim (Thomas) Holman, Aaron (Cheryl) Larson, Joshua Larson, Kajsa (Andrew Saunders) Larson, and Shestin (Leif) Czaplewski; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held May 2 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Park United Church of Christ, with visitation one hour prior and a lunch to follow. The service will also be available via Zoom at https://sapucc.org/ (select the worship Zoom link).
