Champlin - Age 80, left us on Tuesday June 16th, 2026 to reunite with his father and five brothers to anchor their heavenly bowling team. Gary was a proud member of Teamsters local 638 and rose to rank of foreman while working as a driver for the Star Tribune for 25 years. Prior to his time with the Star, Gary owned Campus Pizza in Dinkytown and co-owned Brother's 4 Pizza in Coon Rapids. Being the youngest of 6 boys he was ultra-competitive and idolized his older brothers. Following in their footsteps, Gary took great pride in his service with the Seabees division of the Naval Reserves. Gary was an avid and talented bowler, golfer, and pizza maker. He had a tough exterior but was a big teddy bear when interacting with his family and telling stories about them — they meant everything to Gary. He was the keeper of the Snapko family stories, which were hilarious and often repeated at holiday gatherings. He was a beloved husband, father, Bumpa, Papa, uncle, neighbor and friend. To say he will be missed is a massive understatement. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and all his brothers and their spouses. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan, his daughter Rebecca (Shawn) Bengtson, three stepchildren, 17 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren with another on the way, as well as many nieces and nephews. Memorial service to be held on Friday July 10th, 2026, at Washburn McReavy - Glen Haven Chapel and Memorial Gardens 5125 W Broadway, Crystal, MN at 11am with visitation beginning one hour prior. If desired, memorials may be given in memory of Gary to The Magnus Veteran's Foundation of Dayton, MN or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
