St. Paul, MN - Gail Patricia McGillis, age 74, of St. Paul, died peacefully on Thursday, February 5. Gail was born April 9, 1951 in Portland, Oregon, and attended Washburn High School in Minneapolis before earning her nursing degree. One of eight siblings and a cherished part of a close-knit family bound by a lifetime of shared memories, laughter, and support, Gail was known for her caring heart and touched the lives of many in meaningful, lasting ways, especially through her decades of work as a labor and delivery nurse and a home health care nurse for expectant and new mothers. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Ann Hageman, and sister Christie Sandstad (Doug). She is survived by daughter, Claire Duncan (Andrew Deblack), siblings Mary Brick (Jim), Margret Elson (Doug), Jim (Marg), Joann Dougherty (Moose), Tim (Kris), Andrea Snook (Tom), and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Gail's life will be held in the Spring. Memorials are preferred to the Minnesota Nurses Association Foundation.
