Ferris Charles VonEschen, Jr. "Von", age 86, peacefully passed away on March 13, 2025, in Eden Prairie, MN, with his children by his side.

Ferris was born in Minneapolis, MN, to Ferris VonEschen, Sr., and Dorothy VonEschen (Anderson). He graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1956 and attended the University of Minnesota for two years before enlisting in the Air Force in 1958. He served as an airplane mechanic in Guam before being honorably discharged in 1962. After his discharge, he worked as an air traffic controller and building engineer for Minnetonka Public Schools before retiring in 2000.

Ferris met the love of his life on a blind date, and on October 21, 1960, they were married in Edina, MN. He enjoyed weekends at the cabin in Crosslake, boating on Lake Minnetonka, and spending time with friends and family. He also obtained a pilot's license and enjoyed flying small airplanes for many years. After retiring, Ferris and Karen moved to a beautiful home on Island Lake in Longville, MN, while spending winters in Seagrove Beach, FL. While living in Longville, he worked as a first responder for Cass County and as an EMT for North Memorial Medical Center which owned the ambulance service in the area. Ferris loved road trips throughout the country and traveling to Europe, visiting Norway, Germany, France, and Amsterdam. Of all the things Ferris did in his lifetime, his greatest joy was being a dad and a Papa to his grandchildren.

Ferris is preceded in death by his parents, Ferris C. VonEschen, Sr., and Dorothy VonEschen (Anderson), and his loving wife, Karen VonEschen (Porterfield).

He is survived by his son, Timothy VonEschen of Chanhassen, MN; daughter, Karla VonEschen of Chanhassen, MN; grandsons, Will VonEschen of Victoria, MN; James VonEschen of Bozeman, MT; sister, Lea Snyder (Larry) of Loveland, CO and many nephews.

A celebration of life will be held later this summer. We want to thank the wonderful staff at Flagstone Senior Living and Park Nicollet for their compassion, care, and help in caring for our dad and helping him transition peacefully.
