Richfield - of Richfield MN passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, 11 days short of her 96th birthday.

Eva was born March 29, 1930, on the family farm near Dexter. MN to Eva Jeanette and William Long Douty.

She married Milton D. Bjerke on June 11 1950, and they had 4 children, Marcia Deike (Bob), Duane( Karna), William (Delaine), and Mary Beth Johnson (James).

Eva"s entire career was in the medical field, with over 30 years staffing the reception/triage desk at Mayo Clinic/Austin. She later was certified as a gerontologist assistant, serving many elderly people and ending her career caring for residents at Walker Methodist Nursing Home.

She was lifelong member of the Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Stephens caring ministries, Bible studies groups, Good Samaritan bookclub (an avid reader) and enthusiastically sang in the choir.

Throughout her life she was an optimist who genuinely cared about others. She waged and survived battles with cancer, heart attacks and strokes. In recent years she lost her sight but remained positive, warm and kind, and an empathetic listener for her friends and family.

Survived by her children, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who lovingly knew her as "Auntie Toots" or "Short-stack"(as in pancakes, being 4'11 at most).

Preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ellis and Eldie, many brothers and sisters-in law, and nephews Dallas Douty and Bob Bjerke.

Memorial to be held on May 15, 2026, at The Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Avenue S., Edina, MN. Visitation at 10:00 a.m., memorial at 11:00, refreshments to follow. Burial at Fort Snelling 9:30 Thursday June 11, 2026.
