Maple Grove, MN - Age 93, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, in Maple Grove, MN. Born Dec. 26, 1932, in Milaca, MN, to Emil and Clara (Spitzbarth) Larsen. Preceded in death by parents and 10 of 12 brothers and sisters. Survived by wife, Carol (Rengel), sister Shirley Eskola, brother Frank (Ardy), and four children Phil (Lori), Mark (Deb), Jeanne (Scott) and Katie (Chad), grandchildren Alex (Katya), Amy (Justin), Kevin, Erin, Abby, (Jack), Matt, Oscar, Charlie, Maddie and Kenzie and great-grandchildren Tilly, Henrick, Jack, Lucas and Olivia.
Known as "Dick" by his large Northern MN family, attended Alango High School and the University of MN. Married Carol in 1957 and served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1958 to 1965. After living in Cambridge and Sauk Center, MN, spent 40 plus years in the Anoka-Ramsey and Coon Rapids area. Served many years as a teacher and administrator at the Anoka VOTEC, active in the Catholic Church (St. Stephen's, Anoka) and Knights of Columbus as well as the MN DFL party, serving 2 terms in the state House of Representatives in the 1980s. Supported social and ecological causes, especially the ACBC Food Shelf and the establishment of 360 acres of DNR land on Mule Lake near Longville, MN where he had a cabin from 1997-2025. Enjoyed most of his last 7 years at Grammercy Sr. Apartments in Plymouth, MN, while living his final year at Silver Creek Assisted Living in Maple Grove.
