Emma Marie Porter, 33 and her husband Troy Sabean of Roseville, MN, tragically passed away in a car accident on May 25, 2024, in Morris County, Kansas while visiting Council Grove for an annual family reunion. Emma was born on July 10, 1990, to Hedera and Paul Porter in Aiken, SC. She lived in Lamberton, MN until 2000, when her family moved to Roseville, MN. She attended Brimhall Elementary School, Roseville Area Middle School, and graduated from Roseville Area High School (RAHS) in 2008, where she played soccer and basketball and was a member of the cross-country skiing and track teams and the band. She also met her future husband, Troy Sabean, while attending RAHS. Emma graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2012 with a degree in Biology and was employed as a Junior Scientist at Zepto Life Technology. Emma and Troy spent almost 15 years together and were married in 2018. They loved gardening, traveling, spending time with their pet bird, volunteering, and watching live music together. In 2021, Emma achieved her lifelong goal of hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. She will be remembered as an amazing daughter, wife, sister, friend, and coworker who was extremely kind and selfless, brave, silly, and adventurous. Emma is survived by her mother, Hedera Porter, father, Paul Porter and his wife, Katy LeBarron, and brother, Erik Porter, and many close friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life for Emma and Troy will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 10:00AM to 2:00PM in Central Park Jaycee Shelter located at 2540 Lexington Avenue North, Roseville, MN. Arrival at 10, Family and friends share memories and thoughts from 10:45 until 11:45, vegan appetizers and social gathering thereafter. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Pacific Crest Trail Association, the North Star Chapter of the Sierra Club or the Ramsey County Master Gardener program are encouraged.
