Elizabeth Ann Fuller (Ludwig) (Betty) Obituary

Hopkins, Minnesota - Born on January 3, 1922, to Edward and Mary (Gable) Ludwig in the Prospect Park area of Minneapolis. She moved to St. Louis Park at the age of 4, grew up, and married Ralph Brian Fuller in 1947, raising their four children close to her childhood home. Betty held a strong faith, growing up in the United Methodist (UM) church with the past 100 years as an active member of Aldersgate UM Church (named by her mother) where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, organized and taught Vacation Bible School, helped in the kitchen for many church events, participated in Women's Society, and until 98 she played in the bell choir. Betty's love for others was felt by all who knew her. She volunteered extensively over her lifetime with many community organizations and knitted hundreds of prayer shawls to help spread her loving care to others. Betty led an active and full life. Her motto was "Just Keep Moving!" She was a phenomenal golfer and bowler until well into her 90s, enjoying a hole-in-one and bowling several 300s, achieving the difficult 600 in 3 games multiple times. She led exercise groups at her senior living community and could still beat most people at Wii Bowling and air hockey. Her love for adventure, marked by height and speed, was evident in her 80s and 90s. She flew a plane at 80, jumped from the Vegas Stratosphere at 88, went skydiving at 89, rode a glider plane at 91, rode the Timber Twister in Duluth with no braking at 93, zip-lined at 94, went hang gliding at 96, and enjoyed iFLY at 98. These incredible adventures found her on the local news twice. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph, of 62 1/2 years, her siblings Margaret Varnuska, Charles Ludwig, and Jeanne Cochrane. She is survived by her incredibly blessed children Linda Sapakie (Sid), Kerry Fuller(Jody), Gail Girard(Bruce), and Tracy Machacek(Doug); 5 grandchildren: Rebecca Charbauski(JIm), Johanna Sapakie(Ben) Rotundo), Sarah Haley(Tim), Matthew Girard, and Rachael Ryan(Ian) ; and 7 great-grandchildren: Kenna, Jaclyn, Gia, Leonardo, Miles, Ulysses, and Xavier. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Meals on Wheels or Dinner at Your Door/Hunger Solutions MN, two of the organizations Betty spent many years serving. Celebration of Life will be held at Chapel View Apartments, 605 Minnetonka Mills Road, Hopkins, at 2:00pm Saturday, January 17. Parking is limited. Additional parking available on the Care Center side (west side) of the building or on the streets. Please wear bright colors!
