Eldon Everett Arden
Eldon Everett Arden Obituary
Lake Elmo - Age 86, of Lake Elmo Died on June 1st from complications after 20 + years of battling various cancers and undergoing treatments. Preceded in death by his wife, Catherine, and his parents, G. Everett and Irene Arden, who was 103 at her passing in 2010. Eldon was deeply anchored in his Christian faith (and Swedish heritage) that served as a north star for how he lived his life. He believed his life's purpose was to serve God, his family, friends, and community. He was devoted to his family: as a husband to his wife Catherine (Katie); father to his son Daniel and daughter Kristen; and grandfather to his cherished grandchildren, Everett, Isabelle, Iris, and Trygg. He was active in his church communities over the past 60 years serving in various ways at Central Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church in Mpls, and at Normandale Lutheran Church in educational ministry and serving in the Normandale Housing program.
Eldon had broad interests and talents that he pursued while working in his career of organizational management and development at 3M for 33 years, and continued into his retirement. He studied physics at UW-Madison as a young man and had a life-long interest in astronomy. He loved golfing with his wife, camaraderie with friends at their golf club, playing music on his piano, attending the SPCO and MN Orchestra, and traveling. After retirement, he pursued his love of oil painting, leaving his family with some beautiful paintings with which to remember him. Eldon's wit, charm, and warmth endeared him to many.
Eldon is survived by his son, Daniel, Dan's wife Anne, and their children Everett and Isabelle; his daughter, Kristen, and her children Iris and Trygg; his sister Jan, extended Palmer/Arden family, and extended Beisel family with whom we shared many fun family get-togethers over the years.
A private family ceremony will be held to celebrate his life. Donations to Community Emergency Service supporting their mission to provide low-income seniors, families with children, and adults with healthy, culturally relevant food, emergency financial and material assistance, and connections to additional resources and services (https://cesmn.org/donate-2/) would be appreciated/accepted in lieu of flowers. Eldon - cherished father, grandfather, family member, and friend - will be deeply missed. Blessed is his memory.
