Bloomington - Our dear Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and friend Elaine Arliss Polson passed away peacefully at the age of 99 1/2 , on October 21, 2025.


Elaine was born on April 30, 1926 in Lyons, Nebraska, the fifth of seven children of Charles and Myrtle Russell.


In January 1947, Elaine married John Polson and together they made their home in Bloomington, Minnesota, where they raised their seven sons. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Her greatest accomplishment was her seven boys.


Elaine was an active member of Assumption Catholic Church and a beloved friend to many in her community. Her favorite pastimes included playing bridge with her long-standing group of more than 50 years and bargain hunting.


She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband John and son Mark. Elaine is survived by her sons David (Doris) Mark- deceased (Rita), John (Darcee), Stephen (Rebecca), Christopher (Sue), Richard (Laura), and Joseph. She was a loving grandmother to 10 and great-grandmother to 24 who will carry forward her legacy of kindness, strength and faith.


A Celebration of Life will be held at Martin Luther Manor in Bloomington, MN on Saturday, November 22nd from 2pm-5pm. Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery on Tuesday, November 25th at 9:30am.
