St. Louis Park, MN - Duane L. Shaw of Saint Louis Park, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the age of 84. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched countless lives with his warmth, humor, and steadfast presence.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Duane enjoyed an active and joyful childhood filled with games of ball, Captain May I, Red Rover, and Hide & Seek. Halloween was a favorite—he loved filling a pillowcase with treats before heading home triumphant. Saturday afternoons often found him and his siblings at the Loring Theater, captivated by the adventures of the Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, and Batman.

Duane graduated from Minneapolis South High School in 1959 and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from the University of Minnesota in 1978, a milestone of which he was especially proud.

He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman before embarking on a long and successful career as a procurement manager with Honeywell and Alliant Techsystems, where he worked for more than 30 years.

Duane devoted his life to his family and community. Known for his generous spirit, easy smile, and willingness to lend a hand, he was a steady presence at every gathering—always ready with a story, a word of encouragement, or a listening ear.

He loved golfing, deer and pheasant hunting, attending or watching sporting events and the daily newspaper crossword puzzles. Duane also took great joy in outdoor charcoal grilling and took the lead in organizing family birthday and holiday dinners—occasions that reflected his love for bringing people together.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Violet Shaw; brother, Robert Shaw; and sister, Carol Anderson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Shaw; children, Alan (Melissa) and Michael (Teresa); grandchildren, Nicholas, Emma, Madelynn, and Tyler; stepchild, Lauren; step-grandchildren, Andrew, Amanda, and Ava; sisters, Jan and Marna; also mourned by the McKendrick's (Karin & Brent, Violet and Lochlynn).

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Saint Therese Hospice (Shoreview), Tower Light Senior Living (Saint Louis Park), Health Partners and Park Nicollet Hospice nurses (Nicole) for the compassionate care they provided Duane in his final months.

Duane will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, dedication to family, and the joy he brought to all who knew him.
