Donna Ann Page Obituary

Plymouth, MN - Donna Ann (Cruwell) Page, 86, of Plymouth, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home just before sunset on April 19, 2025, surrounded by loved ones—five years after the loss of her beloved husband and lifelong sparring partner, Gordon.

Born in Long Branch, New Jersey, Donna spent her summers just blocks away from home on the iconic Jersey Shore. After putting herself through nursing school (with babysitting money!) at Temple University, she began her career in an operating room near Fort Monmouth, where a blind date with a young Army lieutenant sparked a 60-year marriage.

Their journey took them from the East Coast to Kansas City and ultimately Minnesota, where they raised three children and built a home filled with warmth, books, music, and laughter. Donna responded to the challenges of her day by leaning into what became an accomplished, decades-long career as a psychiatric and recovery nurse at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and the Hazelden Betty Ford Center for Young Adults. Her work helping others reclaim their lives became a source of strength and pride—not only for those she cared for, but for herself and her loved ones as well.

Donna and Gordon shared a love of music and were longtime Minnesota Orchestra subscribers. A natural hostess, Donna delighted in bridge games and lively parties, welcoming friends with good cheer and delicious food. She uncovered her athletic side playing tennis—winning the women's singles tournament at Northwest Racquet and Swim Club in 1975—and enjoyed sunny retirement winters in Green Valley, AZ, where she volunteered as a reading tutor and honed her cross-stitching skills.

Donna had an intuitive gift for connection—whether chatting with a stranger, supporting a patient, or passing on kitchen wisdom from her own mother. Her blend of empathy, acceptance, and knowing humor made everyone feel loved.

Family was everything to Mama/Granma Donna, and she was everything to her three children (Pamela, Allison, and Thomas), two sons-in-law, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She is remembered with love by all who came to know and cherish her irrepressible spirit.

A celebration of Donna's life will be held this summer at Plymouth Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made in her name to the Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Public Radio, and Clare Housing.
