Donald Wicklander
Wicklander, Donald Nov. 3, 1933 - Dec. 11, 2025 Don Wicklander was born in Minneapolis MN to Carl and Rachel (Rice) Wicklander. He was the 8th child out of 10 and did not have a middle name. We just figure by the 8th kid, his parents had run out of ideas. Preceded in death by his parents, his wife Karlene, his son David, all his siblings and several of his nieces and nephews. Survived by his daughter Lisa Crepeau (Henry), his grandchildren Noah and Nate Poynter and Clara Jacobus, and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Don grew up in Minneapolis and started taking the streetcar to the golf course to caddy at a very young age. This led to a lifelong love of golf. His first set of clubs was gifted to him from one of the golfers he caddied for. He played golf for Roosevelt High School. After graduation, he worked for Augsburg Publishing and attended college briefly before joining the Army. When he returned from the Army, he attended Macalester College on the GI bill. He was always grateful for that opportunity. His move to Assisted Living two years ago was a big transition and he often wondered aloud how he would fit in and how this change would affect who he was. He was used to taking care of himself and everyone else and now there were others taking care of him. He settled in well and made friends and when his health allowed, joined in to activities. He was in hospice care for 25 months and died just 22 days after his wife Karlene. He was devoted to taking care of her however he could with the remaining time he had. We are very grateful for the care he received from Brighton Hospice and from The Commons on Marice. "What can I do for you?" was a common question to hear from Don. He was always looking for opportunities to help and he'd show up for any project big or small. As his health failed, he continued to show up in any way he could. He could not dig a trench, but he could share his love, his grateful heart, and words of wisdom. He could also beat you at cribbage.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
