Dayton, MN - age 82 of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Born in Minneapolis on January 12, 1943. Dennis was a 1960 graduate of Forest Lake High School. Dennis proudly served 24 years in the US Navy, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He retired from US West as an Area Manager and moved on to Crosslake Communications in Crosslake, MN as their General Manager, retiring in 2006. He spent many dedicated years volunteering with Big Brothers, an organization very dear to him. He was also a member of the Osseo American Legion Post 172. Dennis enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. Preceded in death by wife, Linda; his mother, Shirley Bredberg; brother, Tony Youngberg; and sisters, Cheryl, Patricia, Jackie and Shirley. Survived by sons, Dennis Jr. (Deneen), Daniel, Douglas (Jennifer); grandchildren, Ashley (Jory), Marc (Sarah), Yasmin (Joshua), Maia, Michael, Marissa, Sarah; great-grandchildren, Blaine and Danica; sister, Jerri Smith; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities. A celebration of Dennis' life will be held Thurs, January 22, 2026 from 5 to 8 PM at Dare's Funeral Home, 805 Main St NW, Elk River, MN. A family burial will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
