Crystal - Age 92 of Crystal, passed away May 31, 2026. Born in Becherov, Slovakia - Demeter came to the United States shortly after World War II at the age of 14, carrying with him the courage and determination that would shape the rest of his life. Demeter served his adopted country in the United States Army in the 40th Artillery (Redstone Missile) Group, where his intelligence and discipline were put to meaningful use. Following his military service, he continued to pursue education with remarkable dedication as he went on to earn several bachelor's degrees including Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geology and Psychology. Demeter is preceded in death by wife, Marlene; parents, John & Catherine; brother, John. Survived by children, Karen (Greg) Doten & Michael Kokosh; special friend, Evy Larsen. Visitation at KOZLAK-RADULOVICH CHAPEL (1918 University Ave. NE) Wednesday, June 3rd from 5-8 PM with Vigil Prayers (Parastas) at 7 PM. Funeral service at ST. MARY'S ORTHODOX CATHEDRAL (1701 NE 5th Street) Thursday, June 4th at 10:30 AM with visitation 30-minutes prior. Interment Hillside Cemetery.
