Edina - Biersdorf, Daniel J. of Edina, MN, age 75, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025. Dan is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pat; his sons Matt, John (Kim), and Dan (Emily); his siblings Jack (Cheryl), Lee (Susan), Mary (Jerry), and Beth (Mark); as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Born on March 23, 1950, Dan grew up on the family farm in Owatonna, MN. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1973, and went on to earn his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School in 1976. Dan worked as a prosecutor for Hennepin County and as a corporate attorney before founding his own law firm, Biersdorf & Associates, in 1988. He was incredibly proud of his eminent domain practice and how it helped many property owners throughout the country as he was licensed in 13 states. Dan had a true passion for connecting with people, his infectious optimism, passion for life, and natural charm drew others to him everywhere he went. In high school, he was deeply involved in academics, sports, leadership, and music, forming many lifelong friendships. He helped organize his class's 50th reunion, ensuring those bonds continued. At the University of Minnesota, he was an active member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity, participating in Homecoming, Greek Week, and Campus Carnival, and eventually served as chapter president. His deep commitment to people naturally led him to an interest in politics, inspiring him to pursue a law degree and even run for a seat in the state senate, during which he met his wife, Pat. Together, they shared a life rich in love of family and friends all of whom will deeply miss him. Dan enjoyed spending the seasons at the lake at his home in Northern Minnesota and he never missed a chance to share words of wisdom, fix something, give a ride to a friend, or tow his sons, nieces, and nephews behind his boat. He was always ready with a laugh, a smile, and a helping hand. That's how he lived and how he will be remembered. Cheers! A celebration of life will be held at Edina Country Club, 5100 Wooddale Ave. Edina, Friday May 16th from 3pm - 6pm. Memorials preferred to the donor's choice or Risen Christ School in Minneapolis which he supported.
