Dallas Wayne Skaug Obituary

Dallas Wayne Skaug passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025. Dallas was born on September 20, 1938 to Clarence and Goldie Skaug in Tyler, MN. He was raised in Balafon, MN. He loved all things sports! Upon graduating high school, Dallas attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. He earned is BA in Eduction.

Dallas married Carol Jean Weidauer on November 25, 1961. They made their home in St. Louis Park, MN where they lived in the same house for 52 years! Dallas and Carol were blessed with two children Marc Dallas and Michele Lee.

Dallas taught Distributive Education at St. Louis Park for 12 years. He advocated for girls sports to the point where the AD said you want Volleyball then you coach! Which Dallas did and his players kept in contact well into his retirement years. He would later watch his daughter play volleyball at St. Louis Park High School!

After 12 years of teaching, Dallas joined Cray Research where he was a salesman and sold the "original" super computers to customers around the world.

Dallas' first love was his family. He was a loving husband, proud father, and one amazing Papa to his 3 grandsons, Ian Dallas, Oliver James, and Thomas Paul. He spent countless hours playing with his grandsons!

Sports was Dallas' second love. From basketball, football, and golf! Dallas enjoyed watching all as well as playing golf into his later years.

Dallas was a charismatic person that treated everyone as if they were his best friend. He was known as the "silver fox" among many of his colleagues and friends.

Dallas is survived by his loving wife, Carol Jean; children Marc (Amy Stafford) Skaug; Michele (Wes) Elston and grandchildren, Ian, Oliver, and Thomas Elston. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Cheryl Peterson.

Dallas will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at The Risor in St. Louis Park on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 1-4pm. During the Master's Golf Tournament...something Dallas thoroughly enjoyed to attend and watch! Hope to see our family and friends come and share stories!
