Eden Prairie, MN - Dale Olson, age 80, passed away on April 4th, 2025. Dale was born in Glenwood, MN and grew up as the youngest of 7 boys on his family's dairy farm. After graduating HS in 1961, he earned 2 Masters Degrees: English and Business. He also served as Company Clerk in the US Army for 2 years at Fort Bragg, NC. Dale had a passion for higher education and enjoyed a career as a college professor, until he retired from teaching at UMD in 1999. He was an avid reader, a masterful gardener and a skillful guitar/banjo player. He also enjoyed traveling, writing poetry, golfing, hunting, and attending family gatherings. Dale was an adoring and exceptional father to his daughters, Rachel Olson and Elisabeth Olson, from his first marriage. He later went on to marry his soulmate, Cathy Meyer on May 15th, 1999. Together, they became Papa and ZsaZsa to 4 amazing grandchildren. Dale's warm nature, genuine smile and twinkling brown eyes provided comfort and acceptance to all who crossed his path. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Morten and Helen Olson; his brothers Morten (Marilyn), James and wife Nancy, Warren (Pauline), Ronald and partner Herb, and Lowell (Charlotte). He is survived by his wife, Cathy; daughters, Rachel (Keith) and Elisabeth (Ty); 4 grandchildren, Halah, Zander, Griffin, Hendrix; brother Clyde (Jean); and numerous beloved Olson, Morton, Meyer family members and oodles of dear friends. Dale was a true gentle man, and will be missed deeply by us all. Celebration of Life: Thursday, May 15th at 11am at St. Joan of Arc - 4537 3rd Ave S, Minneapolis MN.
