Minnetrista, MN - Cynthia "Cindy" Ann Beckler (née Lisle), 78, of Minnetrista, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

Born on September 4, 1947, in Minneapolis to Stephen and Catherine Lisle, Cindy grew up with a strong sense of curiosity and independence. She attended Saint Margaret's Academy and began her college years at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. During her sophomore year, she married and returned to Minneapolis, where she continued her studies at Concordia University, St. Paul.

Cindy was a devoted and tireless mother. She volunteered at her children's schools as a room parent, always willing to do anything asked of her to support students and teachers. Her commitment to community extended far beyond the classroom. For decades, she served on both the Park Commission and the Horse Commission for the City of Minnetrista, where she took great pride in helping shape the city's long term vision and seeing that vision come to life.

An adventurer at heart, Cindy visited Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, in 2004 and fell in love instantly. She returned home only long enough to pack, then flew back to build a residence where she would live for many years. While in Puerto Vallarta, she poured her energy into volunteering at the local animal shelter, caring for dogs preparing for adoption.

She loved horseback riding and was always ready for a road trip at a moment's notice. Her travels took her across multiple continents, and she formed lifelong friendships in Mexico, Texas, Colorado, and Minnesota. Friends everywhere remembered her the same way: when Cindy walked into a room, she was the presence.

Cindy's vibrant spirit lives on through her family: her son, Reed Allen Beckler Jr., and his daughter, Samantha Beckler; and her daughter, Catherine Lee Beckler, and her son, Conner Wood. She is also remembered with love by many cousins and friends whose lives she touched.

Diagnosed in 2022 with a rare lymphoma, Cindy first sought treatment at the Mayo Clinic. When those treatments were unsuccessful, she turned to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, refusing to accept a six month prognosis. A trial immunotherapy successfully put her cancer into remission, giving her and her family more than three additional years — years filled with laughter, time with her granddaughter, new friendships in Texas, and even more travel. Ultimately, the treatments weakened her immune system and kidney function, leaving her too fragile to continue dialysis.

In keeping with her fierce spirit and desire to help others, Cindy chose to donate her body to the University of Texas McGovern Medical School in Houston, hoping that her final act would help train the doctors of tomorrow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, in support of the research that granted Cindy more precious time with those she loved. A celebration of life is to occur at the Ox Yoke Inn, located in Independence, Minnesota on July 18, 2026, from 12:00 to 4:00pm.
