Constance Davis (Connie)
April 2, 1952 - September 8, 2025
We will so miss our Constance (Connie) Davis - her wit, her infectious giggle, her love of her family and her passion for the impact of good journalism. Born to Dolores and Derrill Davis in Cresco, Iowa on April 2nd, 1952, she graduated from Winona State in Mass Communication. She became a reporter, a photographer, an assistant copy editor and eventually a managing editor with newspapers from Connecticut, to Clear Lake, Iowa to Duluth, Minnesota. She believed in the power and impact of the hometown newspaper.
After receiving her Master's degree in Journalism from Penn State, she taught at Ohio University and DePauw University. This led to a Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in Mass Communication where she specialized in cyber law. She created training classes for journalists and eventually served as a doctoral advisor for journalism students.
Connie passed away peacefully on September 8th, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Lynn and brother-in-law Rudy Basztura. She will be missed by her sisters Cheryl Bastzura and Marcia Davis-Cannon and her sister-in-law Sandra Davis. She was especially close to her nieces and nephews - Andrea Rubin (Gary), Matt Basztura (Melissa), Chris Davis (Margaret), Justin Davis (Lynn Kuo), Joe Cannon (Danielle) & Diana Taylor (Jordan). As children they all became subjects of her photography and her newspaper columns. Once she retired she became a fixture in Chris and Margaret's family. She celebrated life through her great nieces and nephews - by laughing with them, taking pictures, baking incredible treats and cheering them on at their athletic endeavors. She had an impact on all of our lives.
The family wishes to thank the caring staff at The Waters of Edina and the wonderful nurses from Grace Hospice. A celebration of life will be held on December 29th at Washburn McReavy Funeral Home in Edina, MN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, a favorite location for Connie's photography.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Orders placed in:
January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
