Mpls - age 89, passed away in her home on November 28, 2025, after a brief illness. Charlotte was born in St. Peter, Minnesota on June 22, 1936, lived in St. Peter, MN during her early childhood, then moved to the Twin Cities. She attended Minnetonka high school and graduated in 1954. She then attended the University of Minnesota and studied music. She married William Lawson in 1959 and in the following years bore five children. In the mid 1970's she returned to the University of Minnesota and studied pre-law. She was employed as a church organist for most of her adult life. She also did paralegal work and later created and ran a business writing deposition summaries for various law firms. She loved liturgical music, cooking, having dinners with her friends, taking care of her cat, and walking around Lake Harriet. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Elma Matson, former husband William Lawson, sister Deloris (Matson) Melby, son Mark Lawson, daughter in-law Tammy Lawson, and friend Maurice Fagin. She is survived by her sister Pauline Smith, sons Steven Lawson, David (Valerie) Lawson, John (Robin Smothers) Lawson, and Robert (Barbara Sporlein) Lawson, grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Justin, Rebecca, Matthew, Tony, Ian, William, Joseph, and Benjamin, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, December 10th at 11:00 AM with visitation starting at 10:00 AM until the time of Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 2739 NE Stinson Blvd, St. Anthony Village, MN 55418. Memorials are preferred to charities of your choice.
