Catherine "Cathy" Ann Bloomquist (Allen) passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, surrounded by her immediate family. She was 76. Born on March 9, 1949, in Savage, Minnesota, Cathy lived a life full of love, creativity, and service.

Cathy married the love of her life, Vern Bloomquist, on August 20, 1971. They were married for nearly 54 years.

A gifted quilter, Cathy poured her heart into every blanket she stitched, offering warmth, comfort, and care to those she loved. Her quilts became treasured gifts that will continue to wrap her family in memories for years to come. Quilting was truly her love language.

Cathy found great joy in being a grandmother, and she was deeply proud of her grandchildren: Cate, Zach, Barrett, Piper, Nathan, and Faith. Recently, she celebrated the arrival of her first great-grandchild, Theodore.

She was a devoted and involved mother, known for her support and energy throughout her daughters' childhoods—volunteering as a Girl Scout leader, coaching soccer, teaching swim lessons, and cheering April on at every Taekwondo tournament. Cathy even tried Taekwondo herself for a while, embracing every opportunity to stay active and engaged with her family.

Cathy was also an avid reader, and early in her career, she worked as a librarian at the Savage Library. Her passion for books lived on in her oldest daughter, Ann, who shares the same deep love of reading.

In her 40s, Cathy returned to school to pursue a career in nursing. She became a registered nurse and dedicated over two decades of her life to serving veterans at the VA Hospital, where her compassion and care touched many lives.

Since her retirement, Cathy volunteered with the Dan Patch Historical Society, helping to preserve Savage's local history by keeping archives and files up to date. She also enjoyed Bingo nights and shop-hopping at quilt and fabric stores with her closest friends.

Cathy is survived by her loving husband, Vern; her daughters, Ann (Scott) Schreiber and April (Chad) Ganfield; her cherished grandchildren and great-grandson; her brothers, Mike (Pat) Allen and Jon Allen, and many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her mom, Gretchen, her dad, Sonny, her sister Patricia, and her brother Ron, and many friends and family members who have welcomed her in heaven.

Her legacy lives on in every life she touched—with kindness, strength, and a patchwork of love.
