Brett William Anderson Obituary
Edina - Age 66, passed away unexpectedly at home in Edina, Minnesota, on June 9, 2026.
Brett was born on November 20, 1959, in Chamberlain, South Dakota, to Burton and Alice (Sladek) Anderson. He had a charming childhood, riding his motorbike around the hills along the Missouri River, working at his family's businesses, and developing a lifelong passion for music.
Following in the footsteps of family members before him, Brett attended the University of South Dakota. He worked as a radio DJ under the on-air name Chet Gibson after graduation.
Brett moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he began his career as a residential appraiser. There, he welcomed his daughter, Merrick Anderson, with his first wife, Tamarah (Kayl) Anderson. Brett and Tamarah remained lifelong friends.
Brett met his wife, Stephanie Klasi of Yankton, South Dakota, in 1993. Together they welcomed daughters Ella and Clara Klasi Anderson, completing their family alongside his eldest daughter, Merrick. They built a peaceful life together next to a park, where they cherished the abundance of wildlife.
Brett was a talented musician who could play nearly any instrument. He was a gifted guitarist, pianist, singer, and songwriter. He played in several bands throughout his life and enjoyed making music with family. He was still performing just days before his passing. Brett had fond memories of all the bands he was in, starting in elementary school with Headlight; in college with The Vandals; and in Minnesota with Blue Circus, Creatures of Habit, Five Easy Pieces, Willin', Jackalope, and more.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, and friend. He was a kind and compassionate man whose warmth touched everyone who knew him. He looked forward to spending the rest of his life with Stephanie and his three daughters.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Klasi; his daughters, Merrick, Ella, and Clara; his siblings, Nancy and Jim Hawke, Craig and Michelle Anderson, and Marsha and Craig Thompson; and three nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and two nephews.
A memorial will be held at Hyland Hills Ski Chalet, 8800 Chalet Road, Bloomington, Minnesota, on July 30, 2026, from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m., with the service beginning at 4:00 p.m.
