Brad Alan Fletcher Obituary

Mpls - a resident of Minneapolis, died unexpectedly on January 30, 2026, while traveling in Southeast Asia.

He was born in December 1965, in Minneapolis, MN, and graduated from Richfield High School in 1984. His career was 32 years of service at AT&T, and he retired in May of 2024.

Brad was just learning to enjoy his retirement. Even though he was an avid biker and frequently took his bike on 26-mile treks around Minneapolis, he chose to abandon the cold during the winter months. Brad had traveled all over the world and had friends in Europe, Australia, and all over the United States.

Last year he spent the winter in Malaysia. This year he was on an extensive trip to several countries in the Indian Ocean and Indonesia where he passed away on a hike through West Bali National Park.

Brad lived his life with pride and fought for diversity, equity, and inclusion for all. He started volunteering in the 1994 Gay Games in New York City. He was a member of the Governance Committee and the AGA planning group. In 2022, he was given an award for Volunteer of the Year by the Federation of Gay Games. He even won a few gold medals for track at the Guadalajara Games in 2023. Plans were already made for his attendance at the 2026 Gay Games in Valencia, Spain (June 2026). His social connections included the local chapter of the Prime-timers and Front Runners plus he was active on the City of Minneapolis bicycle governance board and his local condominium board.

Brad is survived by brothers William Fletcher (Lisa) in Philadelphia, PA and Robert Fletcher in Seattle, WA plus a very special friend from Britain.

Brad's remains were cremated overseas, and his ashes will be spread in the ocean to travel the world he was so excited to explore.

A celebration of life will be held on April 12, between 1pm and 3pm, at the home of his friend Paul Mittelstadt at 131 Oak Grove Street, Minneapolis, MN 55403.
