Coon Rapids - Age 93, of Coon Rapids, MN, formerly of Soldotna, AK, passed on April 26, of complications associated with Alzheimer/Dementia. Beverly was born on April 15, 1933 to parents Elizabeth (Reichel) and Roy Huddleston at Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1951 and attended the University of Alaska and studied Finance and Accounting at the American Institute of Banking. She taught Sunday school at Gethsemane Lutheran Church for over 10 years and was a Girl Scouts of America Troop Leader. Her adventurous spirit enticed her to move to Alaska in 1961, first living in Anchorage and then in Soldotna on the Kenai Peninsula. She truly embraced the Alaskan experience and constantly reminded everyone she was from Alaska. She was employed in the banking industry for 43 years, initially with the Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis, MN, and then with the National Bank of Alaska (Wells Fargo) in Anchorage, Sterling, and Soldotna, AK. During her working years Beverly was a member of the Soroptimists and actively supported 'women in business' organizations. Beverly was an avid international traveler with visits to Russia, Europe, Scandinavia, Japan, China, Mexico, and Australia. She especially treasured her experiences with Indigenous peoples from diverse cultures and was a strong advocate for equality and human rights. Beverly developed an interest in pottery making and Alaska landscape painting and through these activities developed a supportive network of lifelong friends. Regular breakfast meetings and dinner get togethers were the highlights of her social calendar. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Marlene Johnson. She is survived by her siblings, John, Janice (Quick), and Jerry, along with many nieces and nephews. A life celebration is scheduled for June 13 at 11:00am with visitation 1 hour prior at:
