Abeln, Bernice M. (Bea) age 95 of Hopkins, MN, died unexpectedly but peacefully on Dec 13. She was born in Pisek, ND to Rose and Adolph Sobolik. She was raised on a farm with 5 siblings and a sense of adventure, beginning with her move to Mpls at 18. She met James Abeln at church and settled in Hopkins MN in 1953. She was a chef, a seamstress, a dancer and a wonderful hostess. She learned to swim at age 40 and completed her college associate's degree at 50. She was passionate about her faith and her church. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael James, her daughter, Elizabeth and 3 sisters and a brother. She is survived by her 3 daughters, Nancy Martini, Julie Hirakami and Emily Aldrich; their husbands, Paul, Yasuyuki and Kent; her 10 grandchildren; Britta and Jack; Alexander and Nicholas; Michael, Victor, Mary, and Patrick; Elsie and Max; her daughter-in-law, Deb Abeln; and 20 nieces and nephews. A funeral service and lunch will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary, Minnetonka, MN at 11am, Jan 3. Friends & Family welcome. Graveside burial is private.
