Andrew Gregory Olsen (Andy) Obituary

Stacy - 45, born February 6, 1980, passed away on January 11, 2026, of a heart attack. The beloved son of Greg and Rhoda Olsen, Andy was larger than life—curious, fearless, endlessly kind, and wonderfully unpredictable. He lived fully, loved deeply, and left behind stories far bigger than the brief time we were given with him.

At his core, Andy was a guy's guy. A hard-working Harley fanatic, master MacGyver, and full-time adrenaline seeker, he treated life like an adventure he refused to put down. He had a sharp sense of humor, a heart big enough to tow the rest of us along, and a long list of speeding tickets that confirmed his love of living in the fast lane—literally.

Andy could fix almost anything. With mechanical intuition, a tow-truck winch, and pure creativity, he could fix anything, and if he couldn't fix it, he invented a new way to try. He never passed someone who needed help. Whether it was a broken engine, a stuck car, a failed furnace, or a stranger in need, Andy was there.

He wore many hats—and wore them proudly: journeyman HVAC professional, licensed general contractor, metal-art sculptor, Bobcat operator, farm hand, barrel-racing coach, and resident expert on just about everything. If something needed doing, Andy could do it.

Hunting was one of Andy's greatest passions. A skilled bow hunter, he valued the quiet discipline and skill the sport required. He joined rifle season mostly for the camaraderie, though he took it seriously enough—even if that meant riding a souped-up scooter loaded with more hunting gear than one human should reasonably carry. Andy also held the unofficial world record for hitting deer with his vehicles, managing to hit two in a single night just weeks ago.

For more than a decade, Andy shared his life with his partner, Crystal, and her family. Finding Crystal changed him, evident in his spirit from the moment they connected. He had found his match, and anyone who heard him speak about her knew how deeply he loved her.

Andy stepped proudly into the role of "bonus dad" to Devin and Taylor, bringing love and the occasional willingness to help with homework he never quite mastered himself. He also took on the roles of barrel-racing coach and bull-riding coach with equal enthusiasm. He was especially proud to welcome Lily into the family, knowing Devin would need someone looking out for him. Crystal's mother, Diane stepped in seamlessly as "extra mom," and Andy's devotion to her was clear—especially as he stood beside her through a major health crisis. Family always came first, and Andy proved that through his action.

His brothers were his world. Their legendary debates—often passionately argued despite agreeing on most things—were an art form. They worked together seamlessly, loved each other fiercely, and were unstoppable. Andy welcomed his half-brother, Chad, with immediate humor and affection. Suddenly, there were four, and their bond was unbreakable.

Andy's niece Emily and nephew Ethan were central to his heart. He made it his personal mission to "get the Woodburian out of them" by gifting questionable birthday presents, pulling them into adventures, and serving as a slightly dangerous but wonderful role model. Andy and Ethan were inseparable on family vacations, whether it involved midnight fishing or midnight mischief. Krista will be wondering for years exactly what Andy taught Ethan.

Andy's life was rich with laughter, risk, generosity, loyalty, and love. He leaves behind a lifetime of stories—and a lasting reminder of what it means to live boldly and give freely.

Andy leaves behind his parents, Greg and Rhoda Olsen; his partner, Crystal Helmin; her children, Devin (Lily) Jensrud and Taylor Steele, and her mother, Diane Helmin; his brothers, Ryan Olsen (Krista), Ben Olsen (Kelly), and half-brother Chad Theismann; his nieces and nephews, Emily and Ethan Olsen, and Elsa and Marit Theismann; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He will be deeply missed by all who loved him—and by countless others whose lives crossed his, only because Andy stopped to help.

Memorials can be made to Andy's favorite organization, Wounded Warrior Project, at woundedwarriorproject.org.
