Allen Anthony Slaughter Sr. Obituary

Mpls - Born on July 10, 1946, and died September 3, 2025. He leaves behind four children, his mother, a sister, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by two daughters. He grew up in South Minneapolis and graduated high school from Minnehaha Academy. Allen attended Golden Valley Lutheran College, receiving his undergraduate degree from Metropolitan State University in Social Work.


He worked for various agencies and government entities. His final job was with a security firm where he was able to use his skills learned as a graduate of the Minneapolis Police Academy.


Allen had a gift of gab. As an adolescent, he sold enough newspaper subscriptions to earn a trip out of state. He had many interests as well. In high school, he participated in football, ran track, and played hockey. He set up a photography studio in his home basement and had several pictures published. He also had an interest in chess and science fiction.


He had a lifetime interest in law and took several law courses with an emphasis on civil rights. After retiring, he volunteered with a community stabilization program assisting displaced individuals with housing and court issues. His studies in social work and law were always used to help people in difficult situations.


His unforgettable character and eccentricities remain in the memory of all who knew him.
