Wayzata, MN - Luther, Alexander Alex was born February 23, 1977, and passed away July 18, 2025. He spent his life undaunted by the challenges presented by trisomy 21 commonly known as Down syndrome. After graduating from Park Center High School in 1995, Alex received a degree in Office Careers from Hennepin Technical College. He worked for many years as an office clerk, first at the law firm of Mackall, Crounse & Moore and later in the office of Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman. Alex was supported in his early years by Fraser and Lifeworks and the social activities at Reach for Resources. More recently Alex lived a full life at Hammer Residences in Wayzata and at the Choice day program. Throughout his life Alex felt he lived the dream and never had a bad day. Known affectionally as Uncle Al in recent years, he loved dancing, art, movies, music and cheering on sports teams especially the Vikings and Gophers. His positive attitude was inspiring, bringing joy to all he met. Alex was a friend to everyone and his memory will live on forever. Alex's family is eternally grateful to the friends and staff who made special efforts to make Alex's life so fulfilling. He is preceded in death by his mother State Rep. Darlene Luther and aunt Dr. Lois Heaney. Alex is survived by his father William Luther, stepmother Janet Robert, sister Alicia Luther Toms, brother-in-law Steven Toms, niece Taylor Luther Toms, stepbrother Paul (Emily) Zygmunt, step nephew Henry Zygmunt, cousins Mark Heaney (Amy Kaloides) and Andrew (Ashley) Heaney, aunt Janice Dunphy, and uncles Richard (Donna) Luther and Robert (Lucille) Luther. Private family interment. A celebration of Alex's life will be held on Sunday August 10, 2 pm to 4 pm with remembrances at 3pm at the Wayzata Country Club.
