Walter John Breckenridge Obituary

Breckenridge Walter John Breckenridge, age 100, of Golden Valley. Breck was born March 22, 1903 in Brooklyn, Iowa. He received a B.A. from the University of Iowa in 1928, an M.A. in 1937, and a Ph.D. in 1941 from the University of Minnesota. Breck was the Director of the Bell Museum of Natural History from 1946-1970. He is predeceased by a daughter, Betsy Norum and son-in-law, Bruce Franklin. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Golden Valley; son, Thomas (Marilyn); daughter, Barbara Franklin; son-in-law, Peter Norum; five grandchildren; and five great-grandsons. Breck was a member of First Congregational Church of Minnesota, Skylight Club, Izaak Walton League, and American Ornithologists' Union. Memorial service Thursday, May 29 at First Congregational Church, 500 8th Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN at 2 PM. Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church, the Breckenridge Chapter of the Izaak Walton League, or the Bell Museum of Natural History, U of M. Hanson-Johnson Mortuary, 612-788-3571
