Violet Marie Taylor Obituary

Taylor (Sroka) Violet Marie ''Marie'', died January 7 quietly with her family at her side after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Marie was born to Forest M. and Ruby Taylor in Chandlersville, Ohio. She is survived by her mother; brother, Dr. Gene (Wagiha); sister, JoAnn (Greg) James; and many nieces and nephews. She was valedictorian in high school, graduated from White Cross School of Nursing in Columbus, Ohio and received a baccalaureate in science from the College of St. Francis, Joliet, IL. Her adventurous spirit lead her to the 47th aeromedical evacuation squadron, USAFR, and the 109th aeromedical evacuation flight, MNANG where she was a flight nurse Cpt. and Major, respectfully. She flew in missions during the Vietnam War. It also took her to emergency room positions in Rhode Island; Hyannis, Mass; Ohio; Calif.; Mont.; N. Dak., and in Minneapolis at Abbott-Northwestern, Lutheran Deaconess and HCMC where she retired from the Family Practice Clinic. Marie touched many lives with her genteel, inquisitive manner, her passion for helping young women and her love for animals. She loved to read and was a member of book clubs, was an animal advocate and volunteered at the MN ZOO, and Humane Society. Marie and her keen sense of humor will be sadly missed by colleagues, family and friends. Special thanks to HCMC Staff, especially Dr. Belzer, Dr. Rausch, Luann Koopmeyer, nurses, and Twin City Hospice. Celebration of Marie's life at 4 PM Sunday, River Hills Methodist Church, 11100 River Hills Drive (on Hwy. 13) Burnsville, MN. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials, which will be given to Marie's passions; helping young women and animal advocacy. White Funeral Home 952-894-5080
