Thomas J. Hemingway Obituary

Hemingway Thomas J., professional musician, on February 27, 2003. Born in Iowa City, IA, the son of John A. (Jack) and Bernice. He performed with the Cedar Rapids and the Quad City symphonies. After moving to Minnesota in 1978, he worked as a freelance bassoonist, performing with the Minnesota Orchestra, the Minnesota Opera, the Rochester Symphony, the Children's Theatre, the Joffrey Ballet Company, and was a member of the South Minneapolis Bassoon Quartet. He was the Principal Bassoonist with the Minnesota Sinfonia and a member of its board, as well as the orchestra's Personnel Manager. Mr. Hemingway was a member of the American Federation of Musicians. His mother and brothers, James of Peoria, IL and John of St. Charles, IL, survive him. Memorial service Saturday, March 22, 2003, 2 pm at Wesley United Methodist Church, Marquette and Grant St. Special thanks to Rose of Sharon Nursing Home for their care and support.
